Our Professional Training and Certification

Aerial Drone UK invests heavily in the training and certification of its drone pilots. Our team undergoes comprehensive training programs to stay abreast of the latest developments in drone technology, airspace regulations and safety protocols. All of our pilots hold the GVC and A2 CofC qualifications, these involve both on the ground training and exams and are followed up with flight exams. As a company we hold CAA approved Operational Authority (PDRA01) to carry out commercial drone tasks.

Our pilots are fully certificated to work in the environments they operate in. This includes the CSCS Card for construction, RYA Powerboat qualifications for operating on water, SIA CCTV Operators for events and festivals, Rescue3 Water rescue qualifications and PASMA Tower scaffolding courses.

Our Continuous Improvement

Aerial Drone UK are dedicated to continuous improvement in all aspects of our operations. We actively seek feedback from our clients, regulatory authorities, and the communities we serve to identify areas for enhancement. By embracing a culture of continuous learning and improvement, we strive to set the standard for responsible drone operations in the UK.

Licensing for Commercial Drone Operations

Until recently, commercial drone operators needed to obtain a Permission for Commercial Operations (PfCO) from the CAA. However, as of 31st December 2022, the PfCO was replaced by the Operational Authorisation (OA) which Aerial Drone UK hold.

The OA is a more streamlined and efficient system for commercial drone operators. It categorises operations into different risk levels, with specific requirements for each category. Operators need to demonstrate their competence and comply with the relevant regulations.

Steps to Obtain an Operational Authorisation:

  • Training: Complete a recognised training course to ensure you have the necessary skills and knowledge to operate a drone safely.
  • Operations Manual: Develop an Operations Manual outlining how you will conduct your drone operations in compliance with the regulations.
  • Insurance: Obtain appropriate insurance coverage for your drone operations. Aerial Drone UK hold all relevant insurance to allow us to fly commercially, fully compliant with EC 785/2004.
  • Application: Submit an application for an Operational Authorisation to the CAA, providing all required documentation.
  • Assessment: The CAA will assess your application, and if successful, you will receive your Operational Authorisation.
